Advisor
Timothy Kulp serves on the advisory board of Esprit de Competition Inc., bringing a unique dual background as a former FBI Special Agent and a certified criminal law specialist with decades of trial experience in both federal and state courts. A native of South Carolina and graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, Mr. Kulp began his career investigating complex criminal matters with the FBI in Miami before serving as Assistant Solicitor for South Carolina’s Ninth Judicial Circuit and later as the City Prosecutor for Charleston. In 1986, he founded his private defense practice, where he has since represented clients in high-profile cases, including five capital trials and multiple appellate arguments before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Kulp’s insight into federal criminal law, investigative protocols, and courtroom dynamics makes him a critical asset to EDC’s advisory efforts supporting DOJ, DHS, and state-level justice initiatives. He is a strong proponent of digital forensics, privacy law, and AI-enabled legal intelligence, and regularly lectures on these topics at legal education seminars across the state. His certified expertise in criminal trial advocacy, combined with his national security background, ensures that EDC remains tightly aligned with the needs of legal, law enforcement, and intelligence stakeholders navigating complex operational, technological, and compliance environments.
